About

Rabbi Anna Gerrard grew up in Hertfordshire and became involved with Birmingham Progressive Synagogue while reading Theology as an undergraduate at Birmingham University.  She has worked for Liberal Judaism since 2005, running their Young Adults programme and then working with small and developing communities.

In July 2011, she was ordained by Leo Baeck College, having spent half of her studies in Jerusalem at the Conservative Yeshiva, Hebrew Union College and Machon Schechter.

Having already completed a two-year student placement with Gloucestershire Liberal Jewish Community, she was inducted as their permanent Rabbi in November 2011 and has recently moved to Stroud to do more with this thriving young community.  This is alongside her position as Outreach Director for Liberal Judaism.

Rabbi Anna is committed to dynamic, progressive Judaism that tackles real issues in our modern lives.  She writes for several local and Jewish newspapers and is currently working on her first novel that tells the story of an unusual connection between a Bedouin girl and a young Israeli woman.
